William Mather. b (Sir William Mather, who was born m 1883 was ail ex-President of the ontißh Science Guild and. of the Textile Institute. He interested himself largely in cotton-growing in the Sudan, and for many years was engaged in the promotion of technical education.. In 1893 he introduced the'eight-hour system at the works of Mather and Platt. Ltd. He was chairman of the Froebel Education&L Institute of London.
