Efforts to avert the engineering dispute failed. The lockout begins on Saturday. ■ (Received September 4, 9.20 a.m.) \ LONDON. September 3. In now of the number of engineers depending on tho electrical workers, it is estimated that 1.500,000 will be affected if the latter are locked out. It is estimated that (ho coal strike will throw idle .1,500.000 workers in other industries in the first week; 2,150.000 in the second week, and 2,643.000 in the third week.
