AWARDS AMENDED.

ARBITRATION COURT DECISIONS. Tho Clerk of Awards in Christchurch has received Severn 1 orders from the Arbitration Court amending awards. In awards concerning shearers and shed bands in Canterbury, Wellington. Otago Marlborough and northern districts ‘ an order has been made increasing the wages of adult workers by 10s a week or 21d an hour and youths' wages by 5s a week, or IJd an hour, from August 1, 1920. The following wages have been fixed for female bookbinders, paper-rollers and cutters in Canterbury: —First six months, 15s a. week; second six months,, 17s 6d; second year, £1 2s Gd a week; third year. £1 7s 6d: fourth year. £1 12s Gd; after that £2; all with a bonus of 3s a week. Time lost by r worker through sickness or default through her voluntary absence from work with the consent of the employer, may he deducted from her wages. The order will operate from May 1, 1920. In jho Canterbury electrical workers’ trade the rates of wages for apprentices set out in the award shall apply to all apprentices at present employed in any shop or factory. The order to operate from April 16, 1920.
