The ranks of the pioneer settlers of Canterbury were further depleted bv the death recently of Mrs Elizabeth Bergh, who died at her late residence. 31, Ferry Bond, Linwood. Mr? Bergh was the eldest daughter of the lato d idio m H- Alarley, and was born in 1847, in the parish of .Solihull, County of Warwick. England, She came to New Zealand with her parents in 1850, arriving by the ship Charlotte Jane, the first of the foul- pilgrim ships to anchor at Lyttelton. After only a. few days’ stay in the port the Marley family journeyed over the hills, and'was one of the first families to reside in Christchurch.
