OUTLET FOR COAL.

BULLER GORGE RAILWAY. DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, July Ib. The claims of tlio Bullfer Gorge railway were urged to the Hon \V. F. Alasscy and the flou J. G. Coates by i\ deputation representative of the West Coast, Canterbury, Marlborough and Otago. The speakers showed that ton miles of construction would tap a valuable coalfield, and that the linking up with the Otira lino would secure an important alternative outlet to the bar and harbour. Air Massey described the new coalfield as a very strong argument in favour of the line. The Government’s difficulty with’ public works was material niuj men, but it would Mo its best with the available resources. When the Public Works Statement was prepared an endeavour would bo mndo to do justice all round. The West Coast would not bp forgotten. The Hon Mr Coates remarked that the possibility of easily working the Puller coalfield by co-operative parties of miners was a very good argument tor the construction of the lino.
