JAZZ EVENING

A real jazz club—something quite out- of iliy. ordinary tor Christchurch —hod its inaugural assembly last evening in the Art Gallery, ami was pronounced a, huge success by everyone present. It. has boon binned on American hues by a. committee consisting of i>r Guy Chapman, Dr I l '. (J. .(’Court, Mr 'A • Trwni, Air Wilfred Ward and Air J. Cookson. Tim feature of tho evening ■ was tbc delightful music by a specially organised jazz baud under Die leadership of Air B. Willyams. Inis was quite a novelty, consisting, as u did, of instruments not previously used lor ballroom work in Christchurch. The floor, too, was excellent. Supper was served in the permanent gallery.
