EMPLOYERS’ OFFER. the proposed agreement. [Peb Pbess Association.] r WELLINGTON, February 3. The tramway conference concluded today, It considered an .offer made by tac employers. Certain amendments were made and tho representatives of too tramway workers then agreed to put the offer before the men and arrange for a ballot on the quest-ion of acceptance. Tho agreement includes the following provisions:— Wages—Motormen and gripmen (including drivers of track cleaners and freight cars), first and second rears Is ' d per hour; over two years Is Bd. Conductors (including attendants on track cleaners and freight cars), first and second years Is Gjd: over two years Is <d. Cable car linesmen and ropemon Is ed; assistant linesmen (cable car) Is bid.
Htjurs—Motormen. conductors and gnpmen fa) a minimum of ninety-six hours shall bo provided each fortnight of not less than eight hours for cadi c.ay to.- twelve days, except that (hj) men shall bo entitled to each alternate -Sunday where Sunday work is included in the ninety six hours fortnight, and employees shall be allowed one working day off rlntv in lien of such Sunday work. The. employer shall have the right to call men back for duty on such day off at overtime rates, (o) All vork done over and above eight hours in any one day shall be paid for at time, and a half rates, (d) AH work done or. Sundays to bo paid for at time aid a Hair rates. Mon volunteering to work?on Sunday, when such day js'not included in their ninety-six hours fortnight, shalHoe paid :v minimum of four hours, or if they report; for dutv am! are not required to work shall be paid for two .tours. This clause shall not apply m tho ease of cable tramway employees engaged on repair work. ’ (e) AH work done on Good Friday and C.nistuias Day to bo paid for at double rates. The agreement provides for the refer"ng of future disputes to a disputes . commit too consisting of three represfuit a terry ot each parly: who shall deer a diairman, i|. e decision of a majority -n Die committee to be binding. ' This committee may refer a dispute to an independent person. If ],i s recommendation is not accepted by tho parties the dmpiue will, bo referred to the NaDisputes Committee, the decision of tins committee to be final.
