DOMINION TOURNAMENT.

DOUBLES AND RINKS FINALS TO-DAY.

PROGRESS IN THE SINGLES The Dominion Bowling Tournament Singles Competition was continued today in fine but dull weather- The Christchurch green, on winch to-day’s games are being played, is in good order. It- is now improbable that the final of the singles will bo played before to-morrow morning. Two rounds were played this morning, in addition to th° completion of the Tiarrawav-Caughley game, and the competition will be resumed after the finals of the. doubles and rinks hare been played. These finals commenced at 2 o clock tin; afternoon.

The Dominion of New Zealand Bowling Association Championship banner was displayed at the C-lirisdclmrcb green to-day. It is a. handsome trophy, worked in blue and gold, and about 3ft by oft in dimensions- It was presented by the ladies of the Dunedin Bowling (.outre. (Dunedin) was a good one. As it progressed the green became .appreciably dower, on account of the falling of dew, but play was fairly even. With a lead of three to Oaughley, the game wits resumed this ■morning on the Christchurch green. Mawlouga.il (Christchurch) died hard in nis game with J. Stephenson (St John's). Until tiio eighteenth head Macdcngail was in the bettor position, after having tied on the fifteenth head. On the nineteenth head Stephenson drew level, and both players had on? more at the cad of tho twenty-first-head. An extra head gave Stephenson a lead of two.

S. Sinclair (Lyttelton) line the first part of his "jtmo with F. H. Knmmev (Ponsonby) practically his own way. He was “ up' on the fourteenth head when Kuramer picked up and more than doubled his score. ,W. Spiller (Sydenham) was put out of the singles competition by E. 11. Henderson (Lyttelton). Spiller had a slight advantage at the start, but at the seventh head Henderson went in front and stayed there. Spiller was eight down at the fourteenth head He picked up a bit after this and by tbo eighteenth head was only four down, hut a two on the nineteenth head and a. two on the twentieth gave the name io Henderson.

E. H. Henderson (Lyttelton) had a victory from J. Stephenson (St John’s)- The latter scored on five heads of the game, and then only in ones and twos. At the sixth head the score was four all. On the next head Henderson established a lead of one and as the game advanced he increased this lend. At the nineteenth head Henderson was 13 up and the game Was his. Lp to the sixteenth head the game between S. Sinclair (Lyttelton) and J. Caugbley (Kcllvnrn) was fairly oven, but after that the Kelburn player went abend and won easily. Caugbley established a lead on the fourth head, but Sinclair kept closely behind him, and ct 11 io eleventh head he was only two down. Caugbley gained the next

three Leads, and at the fourteenth ho was six up. Then Sinclair pulled up and was only two down by the sixteenth bead. Caughley scored a one on each of the seventeenth and eighteenth heads jyul a, four on the nineteenth head gave him a good margin and a comfortable win.
