TRAMWAY COLLISION.
MISHAP AT WOOUTON.
FOLLOWING CAR STRIKER SUMNER EXPRESS. *
Two tramway cars collided on the Sumner line at IVoolsUm last evening. The express loft Cathedral Square -it 5.10 p.m. with s large number of passengers. An ordinary car followed soon afterwards. At Woolston, a' team of horses came along Ferry Bead. The man in charge tried to cross in from, of the fir.it car. To avoid them, the niotormnn slowed down. The second car, which apparently was fairly close to the first one, was not prepared lor the slackening. It could not slow down in sufficient time to avoid a collision Ihe front part of the second car and the hack part of the first car were damaged. The first car could not continue the journey. Another car was sent to the scene, and the express passengers readied Sunnier about 6 o’clock, ncarly twenty minutes late. Nobody was injured. but many passengers on both cars wore alarmed. A returned soldier, suffering from shell shock, fainted.
