DIAMOND WEDDING.

Sixty years ago to-day a double wedding was solemnised in tho old St Michael’s Church by tho Right Rev tho Bishop of Christchurch. The brides were tho two daughters of Bishop Harper, the bridegrooms the hvto ilqn J. B. Acland of Alb Peel, and Air C. P. Cox ot Springs Station, Springfield. To-day, Air and Airs C. P. Co.x, Te IV ha re, arc celebrating the diamond jubilee anniversary cf that wedding day. At an informal garden party at Tilford, tho home cf their daughter. Airs Airs ilanmer, many members of the family and a few intimate friends assembled this afternoon to offer congratulations and felicitations. Very few contomporano! of tho bride and bridegroom of that distant day survive, but Airs Cox has had the friendship of her bridesmaid, Airs Alaling, through all tlioso years. Air and Airs Ocx, v.ho are both in wonderfully good health, had the joy to-day of being surrounded by nearly all their sons and daughters, many grandchildren and their great grandchildren, and a pleasant sight it wi.s to see a lamily gathering of young and old reviving happy memories. Air and Airs Percy 11. Cox, and their six sons and two daughters, were present. Air Samlford Cox, of tho Rank of New South Wales, Geraldine, ?lr and Airs Cecil C. Cox, Bank of Australasia, Dannovirke, and their eldest daughter, and Air K. S. Cox, of Atiamuri, and ALss Cox, the only unmarried daughter. Air Hanmer has her two married daughters, Airs Wilder and Airs Dean, who”lately returned from India, staying with her and Airs Wilder’s four children and Mrs Dean's baby girl. Air A. P. Cox is military duty in Persia. Lao late airs Henry Purchas was andher d nighter. her son, the Rev Alban Purchas, nnd his wife, were unable to come from the West Coast. Their little daughter makes the sixth great grandchild.
