I understand Iho bona tides of the pacer Fore, who iron three races at die October meeting of the Greynunuh Trotting Club, has not yet been fully established, and that the stakes are still held by the club pending a final decision.

> At the monthly meeting of the Now Zealand Trotting Association held this week the Forbury Park Clnb'reported on the question of the scratching of the pacer Gleaming at its last infecting, and suggested that the stipendiary steward should investigate the case. The association referred the matter back to the club, expressing the opinion that the inquiry into the circumstances should be done by the southern club. Jt is to be hoped that the club will now proceed to ascertain the full reasons for the sertehing on both days. There was a good deal of adverse comment on the owner’s action at the meeting, and if the full facts were established it would do much towards clearing the air of this much discussed case.

The Forbury Park Club lias received a big nomination tor its meeting early next month. As usual the Canterbury contingent is very much in evidence. At the same time’Southland stables are well represented. The slow classes promise to be keenly contested.

It is nut often that the Hawke's Pay sportsman B. Shadbolt races horses further south than hero, but ho has nominated his team tor the Forburv Park Club's meeting next month. His three-year-old trotter Native King. r ";h° is engaged in the Now Zealand J iotting Stiii-ccs. the only classic race in t|)o Dominion for trotters, promises to start a hot favourite for the event boreason of his success at the Auckland Jrotting Club’ meeting last month.

Hie trotter Balnamoan. who was for some lime trained by J. Rrvce. is now under the care of his old mentor. W. Giant, at Dunedin, Grant was snccossinl with this last but erratic Trotter.
