, SHIPPING NOTES. The Ngakutu arrived in the stream last evening from Newcastle with a cargo of coal lor discharge here, and, having been granted pratique, was berthed this morning early. The Kaitangata left Wellington yesterday for Newcastle. The Niagara arrived at Suva yesterday from Vancouver, en route to Auckland. The Talune left Suva on Saturday for Auckland, with a full cargo of fruit. The Maheno arrived at Sydney yesterday from Auckland. The Kittavva, from Cr'reyraouth, is due on Friday, with coal and timber. The Port Carolina left Liverpool on December 8, laden for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is coming via the Cape Town route, and is due at Auckland on January 23 The Te Aniui completed the handling of her cargo yesterday afternoon, and sailed for Napier and Gisborne. The Waitemata, at present unloading a cargo of Newcastle coal at AVcllington, is duo hero this week to load for Auckland. The Wakatu is duo from Kaikoura on Wednesday evening, and should sail on the return trip on Thursday. Captain G. B. Bates, who had been in command of the Huddart-Parker liner Zealandia for eighteen months, carrying Australian troops to England, is now in command of the Westralia, and Captain D. J. Morris, late of tho Westralia, has taken command of tho Huddart-Parker steamer Yarra. The Kahika is to leave Greymouth this ttlternoon for Lyttelton with a cargo of coal and timber. Sho should arrive here on Thursday afternoon. The Ngahore, from the Chatham Islands, is expected .to arrive about 1 o’clock this afternoon with cattle and sheep. Tho Canopus, from Westport, is duo tomorrow. After unloading she will bo docked for her annual overhauling. On completing her loading last evening the Orepuki sailed for Greymouth. Tire John arrived at noon yesterday from Wellington with a cargo of coke, and will leave on Thursday for Wanganui with general cargo.
