TO-DAY’S SITTINGS. CHRISTCHURCH. Mr V. G- Day, S M., presided over to-day’s ' sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. DRUNKENNESS. A first offender for drunkenness was fined ds, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Daniel M'Corkindale, an elderly man, was charged with drunkenness and with wilfully damaging a door valued at Ills, the property of James Cowell, The complainant stated that the defendant was drunk and stumbled against the door, which ho grabbed hold of to save his fall. The Magistrale bold that the defendant had not ‘‘wilfully” damaged the door and that Mianjo would ho Dismissed. On the charge of drunkenness defendant was fined 10-s. in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. Samuel Norris Gibb, an elderly man, charged with having been helplessly drunk’on November 21, was remanded until Monday. THEFT.
