THE WHEAT QUESTION.
DEPUTATION TO PREAftER. [Per Press Association.] OAMARUj December 4. Large deputations of representatives of the Farmers’ Union and the Chamber of Commerce interviewed the Premier on the wheat question, and pointed out. the fallacy of the existing policy of reliance on Australia, and also suggested an increased definite price over a period of years, and that Tuscan should belaid 6d lower than Velvet. Mr R K. Ireland, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Mr J. G. Mac Donald, president of tho Fanners’ Union, having spoken, Mr Massey agreed with all that had been said, and promised that soon after the New Year he and the Ministers interested would meet a representative deputation of the Dominion's wheat growers and go thoroughly ink the whole question.
