SOME RUMOURS DENIED.
THE LYTTELTON SEAT. MR H. G. ELL INDIGNANT. Mr H. G. Ell, M.P., who is contesting the Lyttelton seat at the general election, stated to a, “Star” representative to-day that, in spite of certain mmr.nrs that were being circulated, he would'go to the poll, lie produced his nomination paper, which, lie said, he B would hand in, with the legal deposit, next day. ’ , “It is said that lam willing to at--0 cept a Government billet and -retire .. from the contest,” said Mr Ell “f say that I will not, either now or at [) tiny other time, take a position in the a public service of this country. y ou g may add that 1 was offered such a s billet, but I declined it, and will o always decline such offers. 7 11 i nhll go to the poll on this oo ■j casion, and if lam not successful I will o contest Lyttelton three years lienee against all comers.”
