The House of Commons, by 276 votes to 84, rejected Mr Bottomloy’s motion in favour of premium bonds. Air Chamberlain (Chancellor of the Exchequer! admitted that on further consideration he had (hanged his mind and now, without raising the question of moral right or wrong, lie opposed premium bonds. On the broad ground of financial expediency there was no nt- ; traction in premium bonds. Apart , from the gambling chance, they would probably capture some money nor now I saved, hut it. would he an inconsiderable I amount compared with the moneys which would be withdrawn from the Savings Hanks and war loans.
