OYSTER CULTURE. (Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, December 2. Mr Arson. Chief Inspector of Fisheries, has roUirnnrl from Australia, after investigating the methods of oystur culture, lie states that the demand for oysters in New Zealand cannot be fully met by the present system of transplanting rock oysters." On the whole, says Mr Arson, New Zealand fish, besides being cheaper, is much superior in quality. 1 have conic back with the opinion thai the New Zealand fisheries are far superior to 1 any in Australasia, and there is a great ■ demand for our fish in Sydney and Melbourne.
