"A STRONG ARMY."
PRESIDENT POINCARE DISTRUSTS GERMANY. NEAA YORK. November 26. Hie “ New York World's " Paris correspondent interviewed President Poincare. ivho said:—After my presidential term I propose to offer myself as a candidate for tin? Chamber of Deputies or Senate. Air policy will bo to keep France powerful. I want her to maintain a strong army. Peace would bo a rain word without American co-oper-iMion, and the Treaty would mean nothing. France’s economic status cannot be restored without eomnlele exploitation of the French colonies. Germany shows no signs of true repentance, Wn must watch carefully, or the smouldering fires may blaze anew. I am a. firm upholder of the League of Nations. Tlie League would prove its efficacy and assure peace if it became a. reality.”
