PRESENTATION OF FLAGS.

During tho service at St Paul’s Lhurch, Sumner, last night. Lieutenant R- A. acit, who was with the New Zealand Alouuied Field Ambulance in Palestine, presented the church with two flags. Jhe Union Jack was used by the Now Zealand Alounted Brigade during its advance across the Sinai Peninsula into Palestine, and subsequently for some time in Lower Palestinc. The Red Cross (lag was flown at Beersheba, Jaffa, Bethlehem and Jerusalem, and was carried by the first troops to enter Jericho. It was carried to a point east of the Jordan, close to the iledjass railway, at Amman. For a short period it was displayed on the 9* Evil Council and the Mount of Olives, both times as a distinguish ing emblem for the ambulance Lieutenant Kerr stated that they were flags that h e treasured highly 1 heir value was too great to have them locked awav, and he knew of no better place for them than St Paul’s Church Bu inner. * The Ro\ TV• J. Williams, in receiving them into the church, stated that lie was very proud to do so. Thov would be an inspiration for generations to come.
