Ladies and Gentlemen, — For the jpast seven years I have filled the Office of Mayor of this City and been a member of most of the I/ocal Authorities in Christchurch and, haring ample evidence that ray services have met with general appreciation, T have consented to become a candidate for the Christchurch. South seat ip Parliament. Briefly my platform includes:—'A United British Empire. Preferential Trade within the .Empire, Settlement of disputes constitutionally. Immediate suppression of profiteering and reduction in the cost of living. Adequate grants for Education. Speedy completion of unfinished Railways. Cheap Hydro-Eicctricity. Nationalised Ferry Service. Readjustment in taxation according to ability to (pay. More lands thrown open for soldier and civilian settlement. Prevention of land aggregation. Limiting profits. I will support all measures for the nelterment of the people as a whole, and I will give my undivided attention to the Christchurch South Constituency. Public meetings: December Ist.
