HACES ON NORTH BEACH. J Two motor-cycle handicap beach races were contested on the North New Brighton beach this afternoon under 'the auspices of the Pioneer Motor-cycle Club. A very strong southerly wind was blowing, but the beach the race the conditions of the wind and beach was in fair order for racing. Results:— Eight Miles Solo Handicap (private owners)—A. W. Johnson, 7 h.p. Hariey-Davidson (65seo), 1; D. W. Gould, 7 h.p. Indian (93 sec), '2. Also started: T. Sewell, 5 h-p. F.N. (840b«c); E. H. S. Batchelor, 5 h.p. Indiau (Masec); R. M'Millan, 7 h.p. Indian (95sqc); A. Roper, 7 h.p. Excelsior (95sec); J. K. Buchanan, 7 h.p. Indian (65sec); G. Gerard, 7 h.p. Indian (65sec). R. L. Kennett, 7 h,p. Harloy-I>a.vidson (scr), had to pull out through his machine refusing to skit. Won by about thirty yards. 100 Miles Solo Handicap (ppen>—R. L. Ketraett, 7 h.p. Harlef-Davidson (torn), 1; G. Lamb ait, 7 h.p. Indian (Bmin), 2; 0. C. Moffatt, 7 h.p. Excelsior (acr), 3. Also started:—F. V. Vhomae, SJ F.V.T. (lteiin); G. Moffet, i\ B.S.A. (8mm); F. Haworth, i\ 8.8-A. (smin 30sec); A. Before the end of the race the condition of the wind and beach were very much against fast times being' recorded. Most of the competitors met with engine trouble, such as broken valves leaving the race to Kennett, Lambert and Mofftttt, who finished in that ordeT. Time—lhr 52min 49sec. Won easily.
