Iho tv atersido workers, in sympathy Aith the butchers’ strike, refused to load meat in eases and barrels from Auckland companies on the Island steamers Talime and Flora, but handled transhipments from the south. Thi stevyaula started to load the meat, but soon desisted. Quite a number of carloads had to lie sent back from the Tvha.it. Iho watersidors state that they are not acting under union instrnotions, but purely on their own individual responsibility. The chairman of tho Chamber of Commerce has wired to Mr Massey asking him to appeal to tho watersidors not to jtenahso the Island residents on account of a purely local dispute.
