In the Assembly the Budget was delivered. It shows a surplus for the year of £318,521. It is estimated thot th)e current year will show a surplus of £50,956. COST OF LIVING. The Council of Employers of Australia passed a. resolution urging the Federal Government to appoint a commission to inquire into the cost of living, and fix a basic wage in all industries in the Commonwealth. ENDOWMENT OF CHILDREN. (Received October 30, 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 30. The Assembly read a Third time the Endowment of Children Bill. AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS. (Received October 30, 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY. October 30. The annual report of the Department of Agriculture shows increases of 291,555 in cattle and 1,563,648 in sheep'in the State, as compared with the previous year. RIFLE SHOOTING. The Rifle Association has received a cable from the English Association, stating that, if invited, a representative English team would visit Australia, next year. BOARD OF INDUSTRY. (Received October 30, 9.50 a.m.) ADELAIDE,_ October 30, The Assembly ,is debating the Industrial Code, which piovides for the inclusion of public servants receiving less than £SOO per annum, and empowers the Court to fix the onantity of - work to be done for a given wage.; (A message on September 17 stated; In the Assembly Mr 11. N. ’Harwell introduced the Industrial Code, .which repeals all existing legislation.' • It institutes wide amendments and alterations and provides for the appointment of a Board of Industry which shall periodically declare what is a bring wage.j
