r» TO-DAY’S BUSINESS. . ? , [From Ora Corrrbpokurkt.l PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS, Oct 22. The House will be asked to deal today with the National Provident Fund Bill, which is at its second reading stage. Other Bills all at the second reading stage will be dealt with in the following order: —Native Townships Amendment, Counties Amendment, State Forests and Police Offences Amendment. A report that is being eagerly awaited by members on all sides of the House is that from the Agriculture and Stock Committee • upon petitions from dairy farmers and others that the Government should reimburse producers for the amount contributed to the butter equalisation, fund. The Prime Min* ister promised a deputation some time ago that he would assure producers for the local market export value for the future, hut the question of past payments was left to be dealt with in the ordinary course by a special committee, and subsequently by Cabinet. There were a hundred or so of petitions, with thousands of signatures. The Agriculture Committee lias been considering the matter thoroughly- and may present its report to-day. it is regarded as practically certain that the recommendation will be favourable ,to the petitioners.
