The problem of finding without notice accommodation for school'children travelling into tho city on special occasions is perplexing the Tramway Hoard. On Monday, in connection with a him exhibition, the Elmwood, Papa*, nm and Dligh’s Bead pupils came into town, but the Tramway Board was only advised by tho Papanui teachers, the Cashmere and Somerfield pupils were also carried in on a recent sion to attend a manual training' class, and the tramway authorities had no notice of their intention to travel. The result was that on these occasions the cars were very much overcrowded, and the ordinary passengers op those lines BuUered much inconvenience. The board may have to consider whether it will instruct the conductors to refuse to allow parties of children to he carried unless previous notice lias heeu, given by tho head masters of their intention to travel.
