In addition to securing the services of talented and experienced orchestral performers, the management i? arranging to provide for those who arC preciate good music in conjunction with their pictures, by having solo pieces from popular music at frequent intervals. As one who visits the pictures expressly to hear the orchestras, may I suggest that the special music to be provided will be from great composers such as Handel, Wanner, Liszt Beethoven, Chopin and the other masters? The announcement made by the Crystal Palace management should het as an incentive to tho management of other, theatre® to look to their lannis

by introducing into their musical -jjpgrammes more of the class of music which lovers of good music deeply appreciate. 1 have noticed, in several instances where singers have appeared at picture theatres to sing special items that their numbers have not been at all appropriate. For instance, when an Alaskan picture was being screened at a certain theatre, the singer who was appearing sang ‘'My Pretty Jane. I fail to see where such a number fits m with such a picture. . It is time that picture-goers learnt to appreciate and understand the higher class of music, and if the theatres act upon my advice then I am certain that a higher standard of music will eventually do away with the empty trash which is bo prevalent at the present time.—l am, etc., R.W.B.
