ST JOHN ASSOCIATION.

SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS. /

The thirty-fourth annua] meeting of members and subscribers of the St John Ambulance Association (Canterbury and AVest Coast Centra) was tyf-ld last night, the Hon R. Heaton Rhodes |vice-president) being in the chair. Ehe chairman, in moving the adoption oi the report and balance-sheet, said that a fairly successful year had been passed. Fortunately the war was now over, and work oould be accelerated. This year, besides the ordinary war work, the influenza epidemic had been coped with. However, they were utterly unable to meet- with all the demands made upon the association, but some of tho leading citizens, and, in fact, practically all the motor owners of Christchurch, had joined in helping. It had been a good thing for the city - that so many private individuals had been educated in first aid and homo nursing before the epidemic had overtaken them, iboro were two motor ambulances in use at present, and he hoped- that the next step would be in the direction of providin'* tho leading sub-centres such ambulances. M’Kinney referred to the fact that Colonel Barclay, New Zealand Commissioner, had returned from , the front, and had brought back with him a new scheme of organisation wdiich he thought would greatly ahect the brigade in the matter of self-government in New Zealand. A great amount of work had been done in the way of free education. Over 60D workers had been instructed in elementary nursing without cost to anyone. A wife of thanks was passed to Mr A. E. tr.
