BETTER ROADS WANTED.
[Pee Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 27. A deputation waited on Ministers today wtieu Mr ( . AL. Banks, represen iny the Motor Union, stated that next week motorists would probablv make an offer to be taxed for better roads. When asked how the money wonld !■<' raised, he said "by means of a 20 per cent tyre tax, which would be sufficient to pay interest on a loan of three million pounds. Air Alassey and Sir A\iltiam Fraser both welcomed the suggestion, bat the former said it was unh'kelv that legislation would be possible this session.
