RETURNED SOLDIERS.

SOCIAL AT LYTTELTON. One of the most successful socials held in Lytelton for a considerable, time was that tendered by the citizens of Lyttelton last evening to a number of local men who have returned from the war. It was'held in the Lyttelton Club Hall, which was crowded. The proceedings were informal, the only address being that given by the Mayor, Mr T. W. Lester. Songs were contributed by Messrs Miller, Anderson and Mr George Briggs, a monologue was given hr Mr Howard Moody and a recitation by Miss M. Hutchinson, the rest of the time being devoted to dancing for which Mr A. Armor,sen’s orchestra supplied the music. Messrs W. G. Carson and T. "Wales did much towards arranging the evening, and are to he congratulated on its success. Tho guests of the evening were;— Captain W. 0- Bradley, Engineer-Lieutenant E. Meikle, Lieutenant F. W.
