DOMINION ASSOCIATION. TOURNAMENT DETAILS. The mooting o I the council of iho No-w Zealand Bowling Association was resumed today; present—"Messrs E. Summers (president) M. Barnett, A. S. Bruce (Canterbury), J. J. Marlow and AV. Nicholson (Otago),” M. M. M'Callum (Auckland), Colonel R. J. Collins. T. Bush, T, Gray and 1-1, 0. V. Bimock (Wellington.) It waa decided that the levy shonld be tlio same as last year, 3d per bead. Ihe council decided ,that next rear's tournamont, to bo hold in Christchurch, should start on Thursday, January 8, and that the council and the executive committee of the Christchurch centre be a tournament committee. Arrangements in connection with the order of play were agreed to as follows; Pairs to sjart on the Thursday, and to be played on the sectional system, players guaranteed five games, to be followed by sectional ties, after which tho successful pairs play off on the sudden death system. Rinks will bo played in sections of ton, three games of twenty-one heads being played «ach day, section winners to play off on tho two-life system. Tho rinks competition is expected to start on Monday, January 12. Singles will be played on the two-life system, in sections of throe. Entry fees were fixed at:—Rinks, 15s pet man; singles and doubles, 10s per man. Minor details, such as the method of playing off where two or more rinks tie with five games each in a section, were loft to the tournament committee. It was also agreed to recommend to tho committee that nlay should cease at 1 p.m. oach day for lunch, unless lunch is provided on the green, and that on all questions concerning postponement of play owing to bad weather, players should bo required- to make inquiries from a headquarters office. A motion that no trophy of value exceeding £5 os should bo presented to any individual player at any tournament was agreed to. Considerable discussion took place on the question a-s to whether the rule debarring officials from acting cn tho council and on the committee of a centre at the same time should be rescinded. A- motion bv Mr Gray to this effect was carried, Mr BaVnett alone dissenting. ■ It was resolved that elections in connection with the council should lake place in the last week of July, and that the result should bo sent to the secretary of the association, who alone,should make the result known. The council decided to invito a team from Australia or I\cw South Wales, to visit New' Zealand during the tournament or such other time as might bo convenient. In order that visiting bowlers may be entitled to the privileges of membership of every club during holiday periods, it was decided to recommend clubs, through the various centres, that tickets be issued to members, which they could present when on a strange green. N Mr Barnett gave notioo of motion that tho membership of the council be increased bv two, giving e>ach island an additional delegate. : Mr M’Callum, at the request of tho Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay and Auckland centres gave notice of motion that the levy be increased to enable travelling expenses of members of the council to be paid when attending the annual meeting. -Tho council decided to inform the Wellington centre, in reply to a suggestion, that it considered the proposal to hold' tournaments in tho North and South Island simultaneously not advisable. Mr Barnett said that ho hoped southern members would always guard strongly against anything tending towards centralisation, which would ultimately lead to Wellington as the headquarters. r Various delegates expressed satisfaction at the manner in which the meeting had been conducted, and congratulated the president on his work as chairman.
