LESSONS OF WAR LOAN.

MORE BOOSTING NEEDED. Why has tho Victory Loan fallen Hat? It has been freely advertised, to a certain extent, but not “ boosted.' - So far as one can learn the public response has been chilly, although in regard to t]ie actual figures no information is available. The local postmaster telegraphed to Wellington, in response to Press inquiries, to find, out whether he could give out any progress, but at the time of publication no reply has been received. The policy of official silence docs not help the loan forward. It has been suggested that in future loans some “ boosting” methods should bo adopted, tvith street appeals, and with a ‘'barometer,” by which the public could read each day’s subscriptions. Tho loan will close at 4 p.m. to-day, and no word has yet been received as to whether an extension will be granted. Yesterday the applications were a bit brisker, but to-day the constant rain is likely to have the effect of keeping the public indoors.
