DEFAULTERS’ LIST. CANCELLATION DECIDED UPON. The Canterbury Athletic Clubs’ Protection Association decided last night to cancel its defaulters’ list. The action was proposed in the following motion; 1 That, whereas various circumstances have arisen during the past five years’ war period which have rendered the association's defaulters’ list uncertain and the possibility of retaining thereon names of men who have made the supreme sacrifice, and as the list now dates back some thirty years, it be decided by_ the delegates of affiliated clnbs, as an act of clemency on the signing l of peace, that ail lists now existing be cancelled.” In moving the motion on behalf of the committee, Mr H. C. Harrison spoke of the impossibility of properly purging the lists. In special cases, ho said, the. committee should have power to retain names. The motion was seconded by Mr A. Donaldson, who questioned the Tight, of the committee to make special retentions, if the motion were carried. He said that he thought the proposed action would give any future list better standing. Mr Harrison pointed out that if the present lists were cancelled, retrospective postings could be made. This was what he really meant. The motion was unanimously carried.
