SURPLUS PROFITS ON WOOL
[From Ottr Correspondent.] „ WELLINGTON, September 17. Tiie latest advances from tho Imperial Government indicate that the amount of tho Dominion’s share of the surplus profits that Itave been made by the Imperial Government on wool sold ?^ er than military purposes will °9 ascertainable for some considerable tune, stated the Prim© Minister in reply to Mr E. Newman, w-ho pointed out that a . proportion of this surplus was to be paid to the dependents of sailors who lost their lives in th© war. Mr Massey added that the enormous turnover and the complexity of accounts, including tho operations of scouring, top making amd carbonising, would probably render am early settlement in the matter impossible.
