In connection w 7 ith the Government campaign of retrenchment Mr Lloyd George has already received departmental reports which aro disappointing, the total savings involved in the reductions of staffs not reaching £15,000,000 annually. _ The heads of Departments are resisting Treasury pressure and shielding highly paid officials. Wholesale dismissals are expected.
