SEVEN-A-SIDB TOURNAMENT. The annual seven-a-side Rugby football tournament for primary schools was held last week on the polo ground. Seventy-six entries, spread over five grades, were received. Very complete arrangements; were made to get the games off expeditiously. Messrs P. Menties, 6. N. Ormandy, R. H, North, J. Bowden and V. J. Gamble were in charge of the various grade*. Mr JNoble was recorder, and Mr V. W- Colyille acted as supervisor. The winners of the grades were:— ’ Open Grade —West Christchurch (D----M’Donatd, W. M’Auhffe, F. Powell, P. Saunders, L. Pay, A. Colli© and E. Robson). Under Fourteen Grade—Riccarton (W. Bowes, F, Bowes, S, Timms. C. "Wood, G. Smith, M. Carr and J. Spencer). Under Thirteen Grade—Elmwood £B. Marshall, F. Hood, M. Edgar, H. Matson, J. Brown, A. M’Phail and b>SCoinkies). Under Twelve Grade—Elmwood (N. Wallace, L. Pither, S. Chester, G. M’Gee. G. Holmes,' G. Hart and C. [Welsh). Under Eleven Grade—Marist Brothers (V, Mannis, A. O’Connor, L. Pearce, N. Stokes, R. Noonan, J.. Greenlees and I. Scully), REPORTING GOMPETITON. The conclusion of the football competitions brought the reporting competition also, to an end. Ad judication was very difficult in the Light-weight GradeTho standard of work in this grade was, as a whole, excellent. The Senior reporters were better than the Junior, But the Light-weights were easily the Bert. After careful scrutiny of cards, iffie following awards.were made;— _ Senior'Grade—G. King (Sydenham). Next are A. Gillum (Marist Brothers), D. Hutchinson (West Christchurch) and G. Jardin (Elmwood). Junior Grade—E. Bowling (Fendalton). Next are F. Smith (Riccarton) and L. Pierr (Opawa). Light-weiglit Grade—D. Lee (Shirley). Next are J. Smith (Sydenham), C/ Logie (lanwood), A- Gillum (Marist Brothers), J; Matthewson (West Christchurch) and C- Smallwood (Waltham). Orders for the prizes will be posted, to the head, masters of the schools to which the three winners belong. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL: Tsie competitions have suffered a temporary eclipse by reason of school hphdays,, and only two matches were played last week-end. Upon resumption of school duties an effort will be made to speedily, terminate the competition and wind up the season’s campaign with a fivo-a-sido tournament. Richmond tQaintainea: tbeir nubeaten record by tar© victory over Woolstou, the latter have reason to he proud °r their display, as 'the referee informs me that they fully deserved to draw. With a more intimate knowledge of tho game, at the commencement of the reason, Woolsten would have pressed' the leaders much harder.
