An enjoyable function took place at the Rugby Street, schoolroom on Wednesday evening, w hen the Rugby street Methodist congregation were entertained by the choir. There was a large attendance, and the programme, which ‘ consisted of musical items, refreshments and games, was heartily appreciated., Opportunity was taken to cordially welcome a number of returned soldiers who had been actively associated, with the Church. The Lyttelton Volunteer Eire Brigade hold a social evening for the members’ children at the Oddfellows’ Hall last night. There was a. large attendance of adults and children, numbering about 200. A series of competitions was held under the direction of Superintendent W. G. Carson.
