THE SEAMEN'S STRIKE.
EARLY SETTLEMENT EXPECTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association, (Received August 22, 10.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 22. A meeting of seamen have prepared a proposal to submit to the Hon E. D. Milieu, and it is expected that a settlement will be reached bv the- week-end. MELBOUENE, August 22. It is unofficially stated that two seamen have been dispatched to Fremantle to place the men’s case before Mr Hughes, who arrives on Saturday. The seamen’s loss in wages now amounts to £3,362,000.
