Their names arc Charles Gordon Mallard and John Connelly, and they v.ero charged with riding a horse in a manner dangerous to the public. ‘ ‘ Both defendants were on one horse, with only a halter round it,” said Senior-Sergeant Cummings. “ They were galloping along Colombo Street at full speed—somewhere about twenty miles an hour-” “.Connolly was shouting out,” continued the Senior-Sergeant, “ and this made the horse go the faster. , As a matter of fact, the horse eventually bolted.” . ’ One of the defendants alleged that someone had hit the horse with a stick while they were on it, and they were unable to check the steed. “ Yon will each be fined os,” said the' Magistrate. “ The ’ costs will he divided.” ' '
