Sir James Carroll. M.P., is on a visit to Christchurch. Dr A. K. Newman, member for Wellington East, is in Christchurch. A Press Association message from Rotorua states that Chaplain Hauby, who is retiring from the control of the Anglican Institute for Soldiers, was entertained at a social and presented with purses by the soldiers and the congregation of the Anglican Church. The ladies of the congregation presented a testimonial to Airs Hanby. The Rev and ?\lrs Hanby leave for Fairlie tomorrow. The flags at Sheffield were flying yesterday in honour of Major T. C. Jebson’s home-coming. Major Jebson left New Zealand in 1915. with the 3rd Reinforcements. as a lieutenant, and has had field promotion to the rank of major. Prior to the war he was a lieutenant in C. Squadron, Ist N.Z. M-R. On the outbreak of war he enlisted. but owing to the overplus of officers he had to wait some time before he could get away. He sailed for Egypt and went through the Gallipoli caaipaign and was wounded during operations there. He was also in hospital m Egypt some little time. With these exceptions he served with his regiment all the time he was away. Major Jebson is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs John Jebson. of Sheffield. Mr Jebson has the record of being the oldest resite Sheffield, hawing resided there for -58 years. All his sons have served in the war, and the remaining one is expected home from Egypt very shortly. Mr and Mrs Jebson were both enthusiastic war workers, and altogether the family have a war record which would be hard to beat.
