INFLUENZA.
REPORT ON INOCULATION. MELBOURNE. August 5. Dr Ponfold, Chief Quarantine Laboratory Officer, reports regarding the value of inoculation in cases of inflnenza. , The use of vaccine was associated with'the full incidence and mortality of the. disease, the ratio of deaths 5u inoculated and uninoculated groups being as five to twenty-five. Some small part of the improvement may harm been due to the fact that quick treatment was received by those inoculated. Dr Ponfold says inoculation should have been more widely used, and the doses made larger. The repetition of inoculation would certainly extend the period of immunity.
