MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
TO-DAY’S CASES. CHRISTCHURCH. Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., presided at to-day’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders were each fined ss, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, for drunkenness. ESCAPING FROM LEGAL CUSTODY. Maka Kamioko was charged with escaping from the Salvation Army Rescue Home. Senior-Sergeant Cummings said that the accused had only been in the Home a short time before she escaped. It was her second offence. She was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment- . MAINTENANCE OASES. The police proceeded against Daniel M’Aulitte lor failing to maintain his child, an inmate of the Christchurch Receiving Home. The defendant was ordered to pay 3s a week towards the child’s support. Alfred Ernest Rainbow was charged with failing to support his child, an inmate of the Boys’ Training Farm, Weraroa. Senior-Sergeant Cummings said that the defendant was £2ll 8s fid in arrears- The Magistrate adjourned the case for a month in order to give the defendant a chance of securing employment.
Ethel Tasker (Mr Cuthbert) proceeded against her husband, Aubrey Clifford Tasker (Mr Thomas) for maintenance, separation and guardianship. The case was adjourned until September 2. Nellie E. J, Scott (Mr Twyneham) proceeded against her husband, William Soott, for separation, guardianship and maintenance orders. The orders were granted, the defendant being ordered to pay £2 per week maintenance and £2 2s Costs.
William Hayes, charged) with the disobedience of a maintenance order was fined 20s. , ’
On a similar charge, Francis Georg© Henderson was convicted ajd sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, no warrant to be issued provided he paid 20s weekly.
Ellen Serra proceeded against her husband, Le’one Dominico Serra for disobedience of a maintenance order. Tho defendant was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment.
