TH* .■ OAKLAND.Private advice has been received that the schooner Oakland, which left Samoa on ■llfich 12» arrived at Portland, Oregon, after a trip of ninety-six days. Two or three gales wors experienced during the voyage, blowing iht sdls to pieces, but most of the journey was traversed in calm weather, though at one time the vesssl was covering thirteen knots. It will be Tomembercd that the Oakland was placed under arrest at Lyttelton pending the production of a bond on account of a claim for damages amounting to £4260 chimed bv MonsM, Wright, Stephenson and C/o. .and Messrs W. H Simms and Sona of Ghnstchurch. The vessel was finally 'released on December 24, end left Lvttelton for Apia on December 80.
