enormous damage.
I.W.W. AGENTS SUSPECTED.
By Telasraph—Press Association. —Copyright Australian and JJ.Z. Cable Association. (Received July 31, 11.65 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 31. The greater portion of the surface workings of the South Mine at Broken Hill have been destroyed. The estimated damage amounts to about £500,000. It will bo eighteen months to two years before operations oan bo resumed, and a thousand miners will be rendered idle for that period. It is suspected that the fire was caused by I.W.W. agents, as it broke out in four places at once, and the telephones were tampered with, the firemen receiving alarms through the mine whistles. (A previous message stated that four mysterious fires had occurred at the Broken Hill South .mine property.)
