SOLDIERS’ HANDIWORK.
I.„ is-very interesting to know that the soldiers of the tary. Hospital gained first, third and special prizes for embroidery, and first prize for leather w;ork at the Palmerston North Winter Show, held last niontlu They did. not enter for any other classes in th© soldiers’ exhibits. Private F. Ball took first and third with first and second Canterbury badges respectively. Private Parry was awarded a. special prize for linen work, and Lieutenant Clarke a prize for a leather bag. Some of the embroidery done by the soldiers of the orthopedic ward was beautiful work One soldier did a large square table cover of fawn material embroidered in vieux rose and peacock bine, with touches of green. The design was most elaborate, and the embroidery particularly good.
