OBITUARY.
MR C- P. ‘ KAY. The friends nf Mr Charles Phillips Kay, late bf Little Akaloa, will regret to learn that he died, at his late residence_ at Governor’s Bay on Thursday. Mr Kay was horn at Buckinghamshire in 1852, and came out to New Zealand in ,1859. Ho resided at Pigeon Bay until 1891, when he acquired the Decanter Bay property. He remained there until he retired from active work in 1915, and went to reside at Governor’s Bay. Mr Kay always took a keen interest in the Anglican. Church and was for many years a warden. He married Miss Cateifig WekteMte in 1886, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Mr C. E, Kav (Little Akaloa) and a daughter, Mrs O. E. Cholmondeley (Kaikoura). ' The funeral took place on Saturday at the Governor’s Bay cemetery in the presence of a large gathering of friends. The Rev W. HStych, vicar, and-the Rev Har’old Pur-’ chas officiated at the graveside.
JAMES POWELL. [Per Press Association.] WESTPORT, July 8. The death is announced of Mr James Powell, merchant, who started business hero in 1867.
