ANZAC DAY.
RESOLUTION FROM R.S.A. The secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association has forwarded a resolution to the City Council, carried ah a recent meeting 'of the executive, taking strong exception to the suggestion of the City Council that Anzac Day should be commemorated on a Sunday in lieu of April 25. It was further urged that Anzac Day should be observed as a holiday. When this letter came up last evening) Councillor Agar said that the council would be very wanting in tact if it did not accede to the association’s wishes. He would move that the day should be observed as desired by the association.
Councillor Flesher said the .wish was to have _ the day a h’oly day and not as a holiday. Councillor Hunter thought that they should express a wish that the , day should be observed on the date desired.
Councillor Harper sunported this, and the motion, was carried. ■
