SHOP-LIFTING.
TWO WOMEN CONVICTED. [Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, June 2. Two married women, one with five children, and the other elderly, without any children, residents of Woodville, to-day were sentenced to one month's imprisonment each on four charges of shop-lifting. It was shown that the women had worked on a systematic plan. They pleaded guilty, anticipatiug probation. I here was a scene wlicn they were sentenced, the women making a piteous appeal for mercy. One fainted and tho other had to bo helped out of the Court.
