Hunt, who ig la charge of about forty South Island boyg at J rentham Camp, wrote to the Mayor • suggesting that as the boys, who aremostly from secondary schols, should be shown over the city of Ohristohutoh • between their arrival by the " ferry ' steamer this morning and the departure of the southern express. The- Mayor would have made the arrangement* suggested if the Maori had arrived |g good time. Her delay gave the boy* only sufficient time to get away by the express. Lieutenant Hunt states in ins letter that the boys were shown, ’ over Wellington, and that it would hi” an education for them to be taken over - Christchurch, tho, largest city in thi South Island.
