SHIPPING TROUBLE.
COMBULSORY ARBITRATION. MELBOURNE, May 21. On tho application of the Controller of Slapping, the Federal Arbitration Court has decided to intervene in the shipping dispute, and has called a. compulsory conference of tho parties for Monday next. The application was made on the grounds of public interest. The unloading of a number of idle vessels has not so far been interfered with. Many carters and others dependent on shipping have already been rendered idle NO SUPPORT FROM .SOUTH AUSTRALIA. ADELAIDE, .May 21. The local branch of the Federated Seamen’s Union remains firm in its intention not to participate in the strike, rnd has advised the Western Australian branch to act similarly.
