MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

TO-DAY’S SITTING. CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr S. E. M’Carthy, S.M.) A SAVINGS BANK CASE. John Ede, a youth, was charged with forging a P.O. Savings Bank receipt in the name of W. Scott, for £3 15s sd, at Dunedin on August 12. Ho was .remanded to appear at Dunedin. A CHANGE GRANTED. Winifred Snell, charged on four informations, with being on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order, pleaded guilty, but on the application of Sub-1 uspoctor Mullany the case was remanded' sine die, to give the accused a chance to make good her promises. MAINTENANCE CASES. ’Hie case in which W. L. R. Gibbons was proceeded against by his wife, was adjourned for beannrr by Mr T. A- B. Bailey, S.M., who had previously adjourned the case to see if the nariies could make it up. This morning it was stated that Mrs Gibbons could not bring herself to living with her bandEmma. Anderson (Mr Taylor) proceeded against her husband. William Anderson, for maintenance and separation. and the guardianship of throe children. She said that her husband was a confirmed drunkard. An order was made at the rate of £1 a week. Fred. Fletcher was ordered to pay £l7 arrears of maintenance forthwith, in default three months’ imprisonment, no .warrant to issue unless applied for by the complainant. James Cooper Irvine, who had been sued for arrears of maintenance, and had paid up at the last moment, was ordered to pay £2 2s solicitor’s fee. Hilda E. Parrish (Air Donnelly) applied for a- separation order from her husband, Arthur John Parrish (Mr Kennedy), with _ maintenance for herself and four children. The case was defended on the ground that the husband was prepared to promise a homo, but that the wife was not prepared to go into it, a previous application for a separation at Ashburton having been dismissed. The plaintiff said that her husband had agreed to an order .of 30s a week, but it was often in arrears. and while she did not think it was enough, she was willing to take it if she could got it regularly. The husband said that he had been driven'from homo, his wife refusing to live in the country. Be was prepared to take ,his wife back. After hearing further evidence, the Magistrate dismissed the application. AFFILIATION. Thomas Jenkins was adjudged the father of an unborn illegitimate child, the question of payment being held over ponding the birth of the child-
